"Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." (Isaiah 45:22)
Are you saved?
Are you going to heaven when you die?
Hopefully, you have answered with a YES, but if not, please read on.
Many people feel that if they go to church every Sunday, put a few dollars in the offering and say a prayer, they will make it to heaven. Some people feel that they will make it to heaven because they are a good person. God actually requires something much different than this, in that, He says we must be born again (also referred to as saved). We will go over this more as you read on.
You have probably heard the scripture John 3:16 by now. It says:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Yes, God loved the world but it is up to each individual to believe in Him in order not to perish. If you don't believe in Him you shall perish.
Let's take a look at John 3:18:
"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
So, again, we see here that you must believe in Him.
The Greek word used in the original text of the Bible for believe is "pisteuo". It's more than just belief as in acknowledging something to be true. It's to have faith in, to put trust in, to rely on.
So not only do you believe Jesus Christ is who he says he is and did what he said he did; you also put your trust in Him for your salvation.
Heaven and Hell
Those who believe in Him go to heaven and have eternal life.
"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish..." (John 10:28)
Those who do not believe in Him will go to hell. Hell is the place of everlasting punishment for those who reject God and do not believe in him.
"He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day." (John 12:48)
"And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." (Matthew 25:46)
The Bible is very firm showing that hell is a literal place of burning and torment.
"And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 13:42)
"...into the fire that never shall be quenched" (Mark 9:43)
And in the story of the rich man that died and went to hell we read this:
"And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame." (Luke 16:24)
So where do you wish to go when you die?
Heaven and Hell are two very real places. You will go to one of these when you die. After death in the physical body some will go on to heaven to be with the Lord and some will be cast into hell and burn in fire that will never be quenched. You are either of God or you are not of God.
"He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God." (John 8:47)
Do you hear God's words today? He's talking to you. You are not here reading this by coincidence. It's up to you to choose whom you will serve.
Open your eyes.
"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me." (Acts 26:18)
Jesus Christ came to save us.
You can escape death and hell by putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. He came to pay the price for your sin so that you may have eternal life.
"For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." (John 3:17)
Now is the time.
Now is the time to come to know God personally and escape his punishment on those who reject Him and do not know Him.
"...when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power..." (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)
What must you do to be saved?
First you must understand that Jesus Christ is the only one who can save you from death and hell. Jesus says he has the keys of hell and of death (Revelation 1:18). Jesus is the only way.
"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
We cannot save ourselves. We do not get to heaven and get eternal life based on our deeds. We cannot earn our way to heaven. Getting to heaven is a gift that God gives us if we believe in Him. When you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ you obtain eternal life.
The Bible tells us that we are ALL sinners.
"For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not." (Ecclesiastes 7:20)
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8)
Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for your sin. The blood He shed washes you clean of your sin.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace..." (Ephesians 1:7)
"...and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)
Without being cleansed of your sin the price to be paid is death and those with sin cannot enter the Kingdom of God but instead will be sent to hell as mentioned earlier.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)
So what must you do?
You must believe. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:26)
Do you believe?
If you have now come to believe in Jesus Christ through the hearing of His Word here, you are now saved. There are no steps to salvation besides putting your faith in Jesus Christ.
If you would like to express your new found faith in the Lord, you can pray on your own or you can pray the prayer below, but remember, it's not reading a prayer that gets you into Heaven, it's faith in Jesus Christ that does.
The prayer below is simply for you to express your faith in Christ and to acknowledge him as your personal savior.
PRAY: Lord, I now realize that I am a sinner. I believe that you died on the cross to pay for my sin. I believe that you rose from the dead and are alive today. I know that without you I am lost forever. Thank you for dying on the cross for me and washing me clean of my sin. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
If you have now put your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are now saved (born again). Be confident!
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1 John 5:13)
You have passed from death to life...
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24)
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)
"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9:15)
If you have just been saved, welcome to the Family! God is now your Heavenly Father!
If you say you aren't ready at this time, when will you ever be ready?
If you think you can wait a month, you just might end up dying tomorrow.
Think about it.
